Steve Johnson Spirit Award Guidelines
This award is presented to an Eastern Maine Baseball Umpire for enduring spirit, comradery and the willingness to give 100% of their time to the great game of baseball in Eastern Maine.
This award is named in honor of Steven Johnson. A long-time, well- known, respected umpire. Steve’s passion for the game is second to none. His integrity, passion and desire to become a better umpire made him a student of the game. His willingness to learn the latest rules and mechanics showed his love of the game.
In presenting this award, the recipient is recognized for their contribution to the game of baseball and umpiring in Eastern Maine.
The award is not presented annually but given when truly deserved.
Any member of the Eastern Maine Baseball Umpires Association is eligible to receive this award - regardless of their standing in the rating system, the recognition is given in an umpire who is striving to become better.
Effort being one of the keys to the selection process.
Their love and joy of the game that reflects Steve’s passion.
Their representation of the board in a positive manner.
